about

In July 2011, The Dick & Jane Project ran a summer camp at Camp Mary Orton and a young man named Dayon enrolled. When Dayon found out he would spend some of his time at camp writing he wasn’t exactly pleased. However, three weeks in Dayon was asking for more time at the end of the session to finish the verse he was working on. Four months later, when the project coincidentally arrived at Dayon’s middle school, he brought in his journal from camp- now full of lyrics and song ideas he had been working on in his spare time. Along with his friends Eric and Tracy, they teamed up with Columbus MC Speak Williams to write “Red Carpet”.

lyrics

When I was a quarterback
It seemed like it was more than that
Got on the field they call me a believer
Every time I made a touchdown the ladies cheer like I’m Derek Jeter
I may not be all that
But to my team I’m an achiever
Sometimes a person used to be in the game
But came back for the person that’s ready for fame
When I step up on the field people screamin my name
And they call me Big Mac
A kid asks for an autograph
When he needs a tic-tac
I told him get back
I didn’t say nothing
But encouraged him
All the things I had seen in the hour
It Made me feel sour
Went home and took a shower
The team was leaders, achievers
We were never deceivers

All my life it seems took the head of football teams
Chasing after my dreams you know what I mean
Reaching for the sky not letting my dreams die
Almost there but I’m not stopping

What’s up.
This the famous quarterback
Breaking through the people that think they more than that
I am the best quarterback
Nobody can touch me, not even Lil Mac
I got that speed like a running back
I run so fast it’s like I got wings on my back
People think I’m whack
They say don’t get mad
I get up on the field
They be like who was that?
They say he ain’t whack
Matter fact he’s not bad
So I say I am fast
This is the end this is it
Headed to the red carpet gonna win for my big wish
Its ok if I don’t go
I know where when it’s time to go
God’s got me double working
Try to kill but I know I have meaning
Hittin the red carpet before I die
I hope it ain’t too late for me to fly

I get money taking it
On the field chasing it
When they pass the rock
Teach ‘em how to scramble it
The rap game I’m handling
I got the advantage in
Concentration
Got the whole world being patient
