Party with me was written by Sophia, Kaylyn, and Vivian at Graham Expeditionary Middle School. This was the girls’ first time writing a song together, so each had their own ideas for what it should sound like. When asked if there were any problems with their collaborative process, Kaylyn replied “Definitely. We were going to rip each others’ heads off.” The crux of the argument was that Kaylyn wanted a song in the pop style of Ke$ha, while the other two wanted something a little more inspirational. However, during these discussions they discovered that they had all been in a situation where they were the one that was left out. “I’ve been left out quite a few times, especially when friends invite me out and then they just leave me out. Sometimes I see some of my friends being left out, just sitting there depressed and sad.” Fittingly, they decided on a Ke$ha style inspirational song for these feelings and were partnered with Columbus musician and producer Joseph Anthony Camerlengo. After the lyricists were done working with Joe, they were asked if they saw him as more of a teacher or a musician. “He’s kind of both, he’s a teacher and a musician, like I think he was really good at helping us decide what we wanted to do, because we were all not sure and he was music-oriented and then we came out knowing more than what we came in with.” When Joe played them the finished tune they were extremely pleased and knew exactly how to expain the vibe of the song. “Riding in a pink convertible on the beach”
lyrics
Everyone is glowing.
The entire room is dancing.
The song on makes me crazy
and thats why i love it
I see you in the corner
and the floor you're starin' at.
Get over here because we're havin'
more fun than that.
You're gonna dance whether you like it or not
because everybody's dancin' and we're dancin' a lot.
Don't be afraid to let yourself shine
Let yourself go, it's only for tonight
Be yourself, and set yourself free
Don't be afraid to party-
Party with me.
the music makes me crazy like i'm losin' my mind
so get rid of your watch 'cause we're not watchin' the time
always having fun and always stayin' up late
talkin' all that talk we wouldn't usually say
all i heard was talk talk talk talk talk talk talk
the beats aren't slowin' down cause we're never gonna stop
Don't be afraid to let yourself shine
Let yourself go, it's only for tonight
Be yourself, and set yourself free
Don't be afraid to party-
Party with me.
