about

When Angelique, Nakita, and Noela teamed up with Columbus band The Town Monster to write two songs for The Dick & Jane Project, they initially weren’t sure which topic to write about. Finally, one of the girls started writing about some difficulties she was having with her family. The other girls immediately identified with her and chimed in with verses of their own. It was an emotionally taxing time for all of them, but it yielded some very deep and real lyrics. After that song was finished the girls needed a break. Laughing at their long middle school day, the conversation turned to hair and all the crazy different ways each of them styled it. Suddenly, all three of them lit up with insight and opinion. The girls had found a topic in which they all had plenty to say, and “Hair Like Yea” was born

lyrics

Wake up in the morning
got our hair like Yea

Short and long you can dress it anyway
You got no hair what's the point of looking your way
All the little boys try to talk all day
but all the way they have nothing to say
I got my hair in my head
Keep staring because I'm going nowhere
I keep my head on top
and my swagger is a killer
put my name on your girls
Cause you all be haters

I got my hair on my head I know I'm on top
Nobody brings me down cause I know I'm bump bump

Hair All different types of ways
Long, short, all different colors each and every day
Certain textures for the weather
or different types of ribbons and bows
Got my hair in limbo

My style looking fresh
Got my head held high
I'm popping like I'm going on fly
I just can't stop it
and it ain't no lie
Yea spread my hair to my shoulders
I'm a rock n roller
