about
In the spring of 2012 The Dick & Jane Project issued an open call for lyric submissions for their summer workshop. When Renee heard about the competition from her English teacher, she remembered something she had written a few months earlier. “I had this idea that popped into my head during church. We were talking about life, and I was more thinking about the good things in life, rather than looking at the bad side.” Rene submitted her lyrics to The Project and waited. When she finally got the e-mail that she had been accepted… “ I was jumping around my house screaming”. Her set of lyrics were titled “Cycle of Life” and when she finally heard how her song turned out she loved it and started playing it for her friends. “One of my really close friends was very excited, she loved it. I didn’t tell her who had wrote it at first, so she asked who wrote it because she wanted the CD. This experience totally boosted my confidence. In school, in writing songs…”
lyrics
The leaves change,
melted to the ground
as diamonds fall from the sky.
The leaves change,
melted to the ground
as diamonds fall from the sky.
We all live.
We all die.
It’s a part of the cycle we call life.
Flowers grow and fall from the trees
and passes on to another leaf.
And when one dies, another grows in its place.
Flowers grow and fall from the trees
and passes on to another leaf.
And when one dies, another grows in its place.
We all live.
We all die.
It’s a part of the cycle we call life.
And when a mother goes,
a baby grows up.
We can all learn to sacrifice.
When the flowers bloom and the birds sing,
and life is worth living.
Yeah, life is worth living.
We all live.
We all die.
It’s a part of the cycle we call life.
