Making the Best out of a Bad Situation was written by Jack, Cole, and Lauren of Wickliffe Progressive Elementary. Though the lyricists are young, they have already experienced some of the tougher sides of life. “My Grandfather had passed away,” explains Cole. “Last spring I broke my leg”, says Jack. “ I dislocated my knee twice”, expressed Lauren. With these similarities in mind they decided to write a song about making the best of a bad situation. Partnering with Columbus musician and producer James Allison, they assembled an up tempo beat and began writing lyrics. Over two weeks they regularly met with James while writing and editing their song. Even when Cole became sick, The Project got him out of bed. “Everyday,” Cole explains, “ I’d be like, augh, I have to go to school. Then I’d remember oh! Dick & Jane Project is today! I NEED to go to school- at least for one hour.” Though all three were skeptical at first about their ability to write a song, that vanished once they heard the final product.
lyrics
The clothes we don't like, get washed over and over
we recycle them through until they're faded and broken,
after a billion washes, the black turns to white,
and then finally, they fit just right
Soft as a feather and light as the air
Chorus:
If you make the best out of a bad situation
It'll set you up for a better foundation
Your roots will strong and keep you solid
Through the toughest of storms and keep you from falling
You've won the game, and everything's changed,
You're the people's king, it's your moment of fame,
When you make the best out of a bad situation.
Verse 2
We jump towards the sky reaching for the stars,
the we get smacked by the rain, soaking us hard,
like getting rejected by dikembe mutombo,
shaking his finger saying you ain't got no gusto
We pick up the ball, and fake him out,
pass the ball to a teammate, who screams and shouts,
"I'm open, I'm open," he shoots the ball,
For a three pointer, we win it all
